How We Enable Food System Sustainability
With the ability to design seeds that meet the world’s needs, Inari is uniquely positioned to have broad influence and impact on Food System Sustainability. Core to our DNA and considered at all levels of our operations, our strategy is guided by three distinct commitments across environmental, social and economic dimensions.
Thriving Planet
Be a net-positive agriculture company and an industry leader prioritizing nature-positive outcomes
Agriculture is a true success story, but this success has come at a high environmental cost – covering 38% of useful land, using 70% of withdrawn fresh water and generating nearly 25% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Inari strives to help reverse this impact and support nature-positive agriculture
by designing seeds that reduce crops’ need for inputs such as nitrogen fertilizer and water while significantly increasing per-acre yields. Our nature-positive commitment goes beyond our products, as we are also working to maximize the sustainability of our own processes and operations.
Food Security
Design high-performing, locally adapted seeds to enable ample production, addressing the specific needs of developed and developing countries
In a world of 8 billion people and counting that is also facing the growing threat of climate change, current agricultural practices are no longer sufficient to keep up with demands on our food supply.
Inari is driving meaningful innovation to directly address this issue,
designing high-performing, locally adapted seeds that enable ample production. And by bringing together the latest advances in A.I., genomics and gene editing, we can deliver these solutions in much less time and with far fewer resources.
Farmer Well-Being
Create and purposefully share new value with seed partners, farmers and their local communities
Agriculture has always been inherently risky, but as climate change radically reshapes weather patterns, farmers’ livelihoods are under more pressure than ever.
Inari is committed to directly addressing this growing challenge. By creating and purposefully sharing
new value, we aim to help generate new income and economic benefits for our seed partners, their farmers and their local communities – supporting their long-term financial security and securing their ability to provide for generations to come.
DSM: Modeling the Path to Nature-Positive Agriculture
Feeding a growing population of more than 8 billion while navigating a changing climate is arguably the greatest challenge of the global community. Net-zero pledges are not enough; we also need net-positive companies working to replenish the world. The agriculture industry is uniquely positioned to meet this need. Climate-smart farming can enable thick, healthy topsoil…
