Inari Appoints Ignacio Martinez as Chair of the Board of Directors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., February 19, 2025 – Inari, the SEEDesign™ company, today announced the appointment of Ignacio Martinez as chair of its board of directors, effective February 19. Martinez succeeds Mike Mack, who has been chair since the creation of the company in 2016.

Martinez is a general partner at Flagship Pioneering, having joined in 2013 to lead sustainability value creation activities. He was the founding CEO of Inari and has since served as a board director. Martinez is also the co-founder of a number of other agriculture companies such as CIBO Technologies and Invaio Sciences. Prior to that, Martinez was a founding member and managing director of Syngenta Ventures, where he led multiple venture capital investments in agribusiness, biotechnology and sustainability globally. Martinez has more than 20 years experience in creating and leading innovative companies in agriculture.

“I am delighted to serve as the board chair for Inari, a company I co-founded and for which I have real passion and commitment,” said Martinez. “Inari has a world-leading science and technology platform, truly breakthrough products and a unique commercial model that is poised to deliver significant future value creation. On behalf of the board of directors, we thank Mike for his many invaluable contributions to the success of Inari these last 8 years and the numerous milestones achieved during his tenure. I look forward to working with my board colleagues and the Inari leadership team to further build on that success as we continue our journey to create the world’s most valuable seed technology company.”

“I have had a very fulfilling and productive time as chair of Inari and am proud of what we collectively achieved over that period,” said Mack. “I am delighted to hand over to Ignacio with whom I have worked for many years and who knows Inari intimately. I am confident in the future success of the company under his leadership and within the responsible partner framework that has been successfully implemented across other Flagship Pioneering companies. Inari has extraordinary potential and I wish the Board, the leadership team and all Inari employees every future success.”
