We are looking for a highly motivated, creative, and detail-oriented individual with strong experience in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) including sample processing, library preparations, QC and sequencing. This candidate will join the NGS team at Inari scientific platform and will have opportunities to work with different NGS applications and state-of-the-art automations to support genomic projects and the development of genome editing tools. Primary objectives of this position are to process samples for NGS applications, optimize workflows, and implement and validate emerging NGS technologies and procedures.  Creativity, excellent communication skills and willingness to work in a dynamic team environment is a must for the candidate to thrive in this role.  

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare and sequence various types of NGS libraries utilizing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Continuously improve upon current NGS workflows/processes in creative and effective ways
  • Scout NGS technologies and develop novel NGS assays to support company objectives 
  • Assist in NGS workflows management
  • Coordinate sample tracking and result delivery among multiple fast-paced teams with a strong sense of organization and attention to details
  • Develop and improve SOPs
  • Work independently and as a part of a multidisciplinary team to solve complex problems and achieve goals/deadlines
  • Effectively document and communicate scientific results
  • Assist with other molecular biology tasks as needed within the scientific platform

Qualifications:

  • BS/MS (or equivalent) in molecular biology, biochemistry, biology or related field with 3+ year(s) of hands-on NGS experience
  • Robust experience with the preparation and sequencing of various DNA and RNA sequencing libraries (Illumina) 
  • Familiarity with long read sequencing platforms (Oxford Nanopore and PacBio) is desired
  • Good level of experience and knowledge in the use of automated liquid handling platforms
  • Experience with other molecular biology techniques (e.g., Nucleic acids purification, vector constructions, PCR/RT-PCR amplification, etc.) is a plus
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain organized documentation of lab work and results
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required
  • A sense of adventure and excitement to work in a highly dynamic multidisciplinary team environment

Bonus qualifications...

  • Familiar with gene editing and CRISPR-Cas technologies
  • Previous experience of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • General knowledge of plant physiology, molecular biology, and agricultural biotechnology
